Budget Beauty: Statement Lips

photo 2014-03-09103923_zps7c6fc87f.jpgI’m a huge fan of statement lips – I love a nude eye and a nicely defined lip. I am virtually never wearing nothing on my lips – there will always be a tinted balm on there, or a neutral lipstick. I just feel so much more ‘done’ with a lip product on!  Over winter I stuck to two main colours (other than my beloved neutral shades, but that’s another post!)  – a bright red and a pink-toned berry shade.

My favourite red lip combination is Revlon Matte Balm in Standout, then topped with Bourjois 3D-effect in Rouge Democratic if I fancy a glossy finish. I find layering lip products like this really helps make the colour last, although the matte balms have amazing staying power anyway!

I talked about my love of berry-lips in a post here, but my favourite products are Bodyshop’s Cheek & Lip Stain, topped with a Tony Moly tint in ‘grape.’ I wouldn’t call the product a balm as it definitely isn’t moisturising, but its certainly a long lasting product! To top up this colour I’ve recently been using Bodyshop’s Born Lippy in Plum, which smells fantastic and offers decent moisturisation and a nice tint that’s subtle enough to risk applying without a mirror!

Now that the weather is brightening up and the sun is out more I’ve been looking into brighter shades – I’ve loving the Revlon Matte Balm in Elusive recently! If you haven’t guessed I’m a huge fan of these balms, and there’s a list of other shades I want to purchase – they really are wonderful, and fabulous quality for the price!
