Lifestyle: Autumn Walk

I don’t think there’s anything better to do than head out for a countryside walk. Fresh air, exercise and time with some of my favourite people (and dog!) – I can’t honestly think of anything I’d rather do. My family came to visit a few weeks ago (bringing winter clothes – my coat is still unworn, though it will be firmly glued on when I head up to Edinburgh next week!) so I took the opportunity to explore Surrey a little. I’ve lived here since July, but not driving means I’ve seen very little. So the first chance I got, I went exploring and took my camera along with me.

A lovely bagel shop too – I thoroughly enjoy their New Yorker, a mix of mayonnaise, mustard, pastrami and cheese. Unbelievably good. Moving out of Reigate we parked by the golf course and walked around the area there. It’s a mix of forest and field, criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways. You have to dodge golf balls, but its a lovely place, very quiet.

There’s also a hidden gem. The Skimmington Castle (photograph from their site – camera ran out of battery!) is hidden down a pretty tiny lane. Its actually quite a large pub, extremely popular, and serve damn good sandwiches. Their ham and mustard was wonderful, although huge. Sunday lunches looked pretty amazing too.

I’ve made plans to do plenty of baking and cooking – I have 5kg of carrots to dispose of, so carrot cake and carrot soup is on the menu! I’m going to go for a run, I’m going to work on a project for the office. But I can’t help feeling that the weekends are so much better when I get out and about. I’m definitely looking forward to adventures with W next weekend!

  • I love autumn walks, such beautiful scenery.

  • I’ve been feeling a little lonely as well this weekend, it being the first one in a very long time that I’ve spent on my own. Luckily I managed to persuade a couple of friends to meet me for brunch today though!
5kg of carrots?! How?! You’re going to be so fed up of peeling them by the end 😛
Hope your ankle is a bit better.

    • Awh, hope it went well! Bruch sounds like a good plan! Thanks, its actually a little worse today. If I wasn’t heading up to Scotland for something very important tomorrow I’d be off to A&E I think! x

  • This is lovely Chloe! Fab photos and that bagel sounds divine 😀

Carrot-wise: my mum used to grate a whole bunch of them into bolognese’s and stuff. It was the only way she could get any veg into my brother haha!

It uses up a good few of them but means you won’t get completely sick of the taste 🙂 xx

    • Thank you – the bagel was amazing. Definitely going to try and recreate something similar. I do tend to grate them into anything, but I have a jam-packed freezer too! I made hell of a lot of carrot soup yesterday, and lots of carrot cake, so only 2kg left now! x

  • Sounds like a lovely day, I love Autumn walks and being outside when it’s a bit chilly but the suns out and it looks beautiful. Your photos look lovely. I’d go for carrot sticks and dip with that 5kg bag of carrots!

    • I agree about Autumn! I’ve been eating carrot sticks and hummus, and also made lots of carrot cake and carrot soup. Only a 1kg left now, and I’m slowly turning orange… x
